Criminals, particularly those of them who use violence on others,are universally regarded as fair game for recruitment to the ranks of informers. Those who have been to psychiatric institutions are never recruited as paid informers. Those who have been convicted of fraud and 'holding out', extortionists like Billy Mc Bride are soon taken off the Secret Service list. Only Terry Mc Dermott of the Knocks was ever allowed back into the Secret Service because he had Catherine Mc Carroll killed in association with Paddy Rogers (95 Derrin Road, Enniskillen).
