Blood of Spain. Fatalism or "Dolores Ibaruirra's resignation to the inevitable"

The phrases,"You are myth, you are legend," of the soldiers farewell to the brigadistas featured in a plagiarised form in a modern day retelling of the eleventh century Book of Invasions,an Irish book of origins published secretly by Irish Military Intelligence in 1978 to incite rebellion. That fact was typical of the old nationalist trickery of Sinn Fein and Arthur Griffiths.

Am I losing the plot....

Ah,yes, let us return to La Passionaria's farewell speech to the International Brigades on their departure from Madrid in 1938...

But,wait a moment, while we are on the subject of putschs and coups d'etat,is it not clear to bookworms of the period from the working of the Communist League in 1847-8 (as recorded by Rodney Livingstone) and of the preamble to Marx's The German Ideology (1845-6:Progress Publishers, Moscow,1968) that it was a Spaniard based in Germany,Rizzi, who inspired Marx to take the revolutionary path.

By the revolutionary path, one can only mean the insurrectionary path less associated with Spain but more so, Lenin's Russia....so close, yet so far away...

A question with a vaguely sentimental tinge...why I hear you say was a compromising woman summoned from the Cortes to bid farewell in such glowing terms to military adventurers who had no business fighting in the country in question other than for altruistic motives and the supremacy of ideals?

The fatalism of the Spanish character dictates that the upper hand belongs to the Church.

The Bolshevik leader, Lenin, openly contradicted non-violence with polemics on the need for "a good thrashing" for "suspicious characters" (1901,1902,1903). Only later,in 1919, Lenin realised that it is " lay priests" and the 'military-bureacratic caste' who send the same street crawlers out to cow and bow the opposition.

The uncomfortable fact of the matter is that the Radicals who led the Spanish Government of Radicals and Socialists and Communists in the ill-fated Republic could accommodate themselves to just about any form of rulers. That lesson underlines that which amounts to the possession of the means of 'social advance',a strong,politically-united army with socialist indoctrination and political education officers.

That is the mainstay of a revolutionary government and in the Soviet Union this tenet of National Bolshevism ('Stalinism') was steadily eroded by Gorbachev.

Rightly,so!

The Continuity IRA reprised the role of the Terror in North Armagh by executing three hostages in 1989-1992.

Gorbachev was a lawyer not a corner boy or petty criminal and he did the right thing for any lawyer who desires a basic level of political reciprocity and the elementary rights of a citizen.

All revolutionary endeavours,be they of a reactionary or socialist nature, end in chaos and leave many discontented.

Most people don't like to lose their shirt in a fight unless the matter concerns a person who they know well or themselves.
